The Clinical Practice Committee compiles and maintains a list of drugs/therapeutic agents (including agents/drugs used for investigation) relevant to the practice of Paediatric Endocrinology throughout Europe.

Membership and Composition

  • Be representative of the constitutive countries of ESPE
  • Have six members, including a Chair-person & Secretary, with at least one member on ESPE Council
  • Each member to serve a three year tenure, renewable once if required
  • Ensure overlap of tenure among the committee members
  • New members will be selected by Council & current CPC members,if necessary in consultation with the Chairmen/Presidents of National Paediatric Endocrine Societies
  • Be constituted as a sub-committee of ESPE
  • Report to ESPE Secretary & Council
  • Meet at least twice per annum, and more frequently, dependent on projects to be addressed

Terms of Reference

  • Adher to the highest ethical standards in the conduct of CP business and in the consideration of any therapeutic agent, new or old
  • Compile & maintain a list of drugs/therapeutic agents (including agents/drugs used for investigation) relevant to the practice of Paediatric Endocrinology throughout Europe
  • Increase awareness of therapeutic issues in Paediatric Endocrinology throughout the membership of ESPE
  • If required, investigate & disseminate information on any newtherapy/problem therapy to the ESPE membership.
  • Highlight & arrange for surveillance of any possible therapeutic problems, including auditing practice among the ESPE membership & using co-opted individuals in a particular country if necessary.
  • Act as a stimulus & focus for the presentation of therapeutic issues at the ESPE annual meeting in liaison with the Local Organising Committee & the ESPE council
  • Act as a stimulus to initiate multi-centre studies of therapeutic issues
  • Seek to secure data for the appropriate use of non-licensed drugs relevant to the practice of Paediatric Endocrinology
  • Consider & generate therapeutic guidelines, in consultation with Council & any other relevant interested parties, for presentation to the membership
  • Maintain & foster relationships with any other relevant Clinical Practice Committee, in particular the Lawson-Wilkins CPC
  • Disseminate information on activities to the membership through the ESPE web-site
