ESPE Research Unit

Introduction

The ESPE Research Unit is a collaborative research grant coordinating high quality research in paediatric endocrinology.

Grant Information

One large grant and one small grant are funded annually. The large grant of €130,000 is for a period of two years (up to €65,000 per year) and the smaller grant of €15,000 is awarded for a period of one year.

Specific Requirements

ESPE Research Unit awards can only be submitted by ESPE members who intend to support collaborative research among members. Non–ESPE members may participate as co–investigators. We consider that the bulk of the research should be performed at the investigators laboratory / hospital sites.

  • Scientific importance
  • Experimental design
  • Principle investigator qualifications
  • Co-investigator qualification
  • Budget
  • Mode of Collaboration

Evaluation Procedure

  • All preliminary applications will be assessed for eligibility by the ESPE Research Unit Convenor and Science Committee.
  • All applications that fulfil the initiative of the grant will be invited to submit a final application for the collaborative research grant.
  • All final applications will be subjected to an external peer review by at least three experts in the field on the Science Committee Expert Panel.
  • Ranking is made by each reviewer independently based on the named selection criteria, the highest ranked projects are granted.
  • The ESPE Science Committee can decide to allocate only one grant in case of insufficient quality.

If your preliminary application is successful, you will be invited to submit a final application, which should consist of the following:

  • Final application Form
  • Research programme
  • CV of all investigators
  • Additional supporting documents if required

It is essential that application forms are fully completed, including the necessary signatures.

Application Deadlines

  • Preliminary Application – 27th February 2017
  • Final Application – 17th April 2017
