Winter School Coordinator Vacancy

Deadline: 18 October 2019

We are seeking applications from the ESPE membership for the position of Coordinator of the ESPE Winter School Steering Committee. The position is also a member of the Education & Training Committee. The vacancy has arisen due to current Coordinator John Gregory, coming to the end of his second term of office. The three-year appointment will start in March 2020, following the 2020 Winter School in Moldova.

Applicants should have a wide knowledge of the published literature in paediatric endocrinology in general and detailed knowledge in more than one specific area. Applicants should ideally be a current or past member of the Winter School Steering Committee, but previous members of other ESPE School steering committees will be considered.

The tasks of the Winter School Steering Committee include evaluating applicants for the School, mentoring students in advance of Winter School to help them prepare their case and research presentations and teaching during Winter School. .

The Coordinator will have overall responsibility for the output of the Steering Committee, chairing the annual face-to-face meeting which takes place during the Annual ESPE Meeting and liaising with the local organiser, participants, faculty, Winter School Committee, secretariat and Education & Training Committee. The role is also responsible for providing updates for the ESPE website and Newsletter and providing a yearly report. The Education & Training Committee meets 3-4 times per year (face to face or by teleconference).

ESPE Winter School aims to cover all main topics in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes during the course of an intensive 5 day and 6 night teaching event. The host country is usually, but not always, in Eastern Europe. The course comprises interactive lectures in paediatric endocrinology, research seminars, small group teaching, and student case/research rehearsals/presentations.

The ESPE Winter School is a lot of work both before and during, and involves being away from home and institution for a week each year. But it is also hugely enjoyable and usually much appreciated by the students!

If you are interested in applying for this post, please send an electronic copy of your CV and a covering letter to the ESPE Team at: espe@eurospe.org by 18 October 2019.

The appointment will be made by the ESPE Council following recommendation by the Winter School Steering Committee.

All applicants should read the ESPE Committee Guidelines before applying.
