This month, I would like to start by announcing that I will be finishing my term as ESPE President in 2025, and therefore we require a successor to continue the legacy of the Society. It has been a real pleasure serving the ESPE community, but I am also looking forward to exciting new changes. We are keen that the next President consolidates the reputation of ESPE and takes it to the next level.
This role will start in November 2024 as President-Elect and will commence as President from September 2025. The deadline for applications is 15 September, if you would like to apply to become ESPE President, please take a look at the role description on the website.
As we move closer towards ESPE 2024, I would like to remind you that the deadline for standard registrations fees is coming up on 16 September. Register now and save! Please remember ESPE Members benefit from discounted registration fees and free access to ESPE On-Demand – become a member.
I would also like to remind readers that this year we are offering a complimentary shuttle service to the ESPE 2024 venue. Whether you’re arriving at Liverpool John Lennon Airport or Manchester Airport, our shuttle will provide you with convenient, reliable, and comfortable transportation to the event.
There are several deadlines coming up next month that I would like to draw your attention to. Firstly, the Visiting Professorship of Rare Diseases Grant closes on 15 September – this grant enables scientific renewal and the development and sustaining of long-term partnerships that lead to the development of new projects and funding. An excellent opportunity for established paediatric endocrinologists.
Secondly, applications for the upcoming Maghreb School are open. The School will be held in Tunisia on 9-12 December and promotes the training and education of paediatric endocrinologists in French-speaking North African countries. Our international faculty will host interactive lectures, case presentations, research project workshops and facilitate small-group meetings.
Next, applications for the Early Career Scientific Development Grant will close on 30 September. This grant provides financial support and is an excellent opportunity to learn new techniques, discuss new methods, work on joint research projects, or finance the visit of an expert to receive essential guidance and advice to your home institution.
Finally, the ESPE Research Fellowship is open for applications. This Fellowship enables talented early-career scientists, investigators, and paediatric endocrinologists to conduct research at leading institutions worldwide. The deadline for applications is 31 October. Hear from previous winner, Lloyd Tack, about why you should apply.
We are extremely excited to be hosting the first ever joint Congress between the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) and the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) on 10-13 May 2025. This truly joint landmark event, ‘Connecting Endocrinology Across the Life Course’, will bring together paediatric and adult endocrine specialists from across Europe and the rest of the world to meet, collaborate and celebrate endocrinology in Copenhagen, Denmark next year. Please make sure to register your interest!
All the very best,
Anita Hokken-Koelega
