As we head into summer, we are diligently working on the upcoming ESPE 2024 Annual Meeting in Liverpool and have several updates to share with you.
We recently announced our free shuttle bus service between Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport for this year’s Annual meeting, so attendees can enjoy a seamless and pleasant journey. There are several shuttle times from both local airports available, with two city centre drop off points for your convenience.
Our social event will be spectacular, with the chosen venue being Liverpool Cathedral – the largest in Britain! We are excited to invite you to this magnificent building and create a special evening to mark the opening of this year’s Meeting.
Another event on this year’s social calendar is the 5k Fun Run which we will be holding again this year. More details will be released soon, but make sure to pack your gym wear and join us for an energetic start to ESPE2024!
I am delighted to share with you the recently published issue of ESPE News. This edition, we focus on endocrine oncology and managing craniopharyngioma, including radiation therapy and the latest guidance. We also feature an update from the YES Group, articles on toy safety, and results from our recent ESPE News survey.
We have an exciting new initiative for ESPE YES Group members to get involved with! Our new virtual journal club ESPE Snippets is an exciting professional development opportunity for early career members to work with ESPE committee chairs, demonstrate an interest in research, and gain experience in critical appraisal. We are looking for six YES Group members to join our team – the deadline for applications is the 1st August, so make sure to apply soon.
We also have a position available on our Newsletter Editorial Board. This knowledgeable and dynamic team actively steers the development of ESPE’s popular and well-respected quarterly Newsletter. Being part of the Board offers an excellent opportunity for members to expand their professional networks and develop science communication skills. Applications close on 26th August.
The ESPE Visiting Professorship of Rare Diseases Grant is currently open for applications until the 15th September. This grant enables scientific renewal and the development and sustaining of long-term partnerships that lead to the development of new projects and funding, for established paediatric endocrinologist.
We also urge early career endocrinologists to apply for the Early Career Scientific Development Grant which can be used to fund a visit to an institute to learn a new skill or technique, troubleshoot existing methods for example. The deadline for applications is the 30th September.
The ESPE Research Fellowship Grant is also currently accepting applications. This outstanding programme has helped launch powerful careers in leading-edge clinical research in paediatric endocrinology. Make sure to apply by 31st October.
