The European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology, counting approximately 1500 members, is led by the council, chaired by the President and formed by the chairs of seven council committees, the annual meeting host, the meeting host elect, and the chair of the Rare disease advisory committee.


In addition to the council and (sub)committees, Young ESPE (YES) Group provides early career support, and eight working groups sharing expertise from the perspective of specific paediatric endocrine categories and/or conditions are active.

ESPE secretariat is managed by MCI, whose team connects with all parties and facilitates all activities. Additionally, several committees are supported by other external parties providing various services as expert management and consultancy.

The council has nine members with voting rights:

Members without voting rights:

  • Host-elect for the Annual ESPE Meeting of next year
  • If applicable:
    • President-elect 12 months prior to hand-over
    • Treasurer-elect 3 months prior to hand-over

In addition the council is extended with third party representatives supporting the council:

  • The sponsor manager who supports the CLB chair
  • The supervising event manager who is working with the POC chair, the host of the Annual ESPE Meeting of that year, and with the representative of the Annual ESPE Meeting management
  • The representative of the organisation responsible for the Annual ESPE Meeting management

The president also chairs the council satellite Affiliated Societies Scheme (ASS) and the Andrea Prader Committee (APC) which is a subcommittee of the SFC, and is a member of the SFC, the CLB, the Rare Disease Advisory Committee (RDAC), and the Policy and Advocacy Committee (P&A).

The chair of SFC/Treasurer also chairs the Travel Grant Committee (TGC) which is a steering committee of the SFC and is a member of the APC and of the CLB.

        Affiliated Society Group

        The ESPE Affiliated Society Group aims to connect paediatric professionals to improve the care of children and adolescents with endocrine, diabetes and bone disorders.

        European Reference Networks (ERNs)

        Objectives

        The objectives of the European Reference Networks (ERNs) are:

        • To share expertise
        • To improve diagnosis
        • To educate and train patients, care providers and doctors
        • To produce guidelines
        • To build databases
        • To develop connections to facilitate research
        • To perform clinical trials on rare endocrine conditions
        • To disseminate results to patients, health care providers (HCPs) and public health organisations
        • To link up with other ERNs.

        European Reference Network on Rare Endocrine Conditions (Endo-ERN)

        ESPE in collaboration with the European Society for Endocrinology (ESE) have worked together to establish a European Reference Network on Rare Endocrine Disorders (Endo-ERN).
