President update, April 2026

We are rapidly moving through the year, and I am delighted that the team are working tirelessly to create another fantastic Annual Meeting for the ESPE community.

Whether you are a seasoned specialist, researcher, clinician scientist, trainee, or healthcare professional with a passion for paediatric endocrinology, ESPE 2026 will offer a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and help shape the future of our field.

We are looking forward to the next instalment in our Bone Academy series. Module 5 is a comprehensive three-part webinar series that will explore the causes, pathophysiology, and management of hypocalcaemia, hypoparathyroidism, PTH resistance, and hypercalcaemia. The first part will be held on 12 May; there is still time to register your place.

Our popular Science Symposium is back this later this year in Athens, Greece. The 6th ESPE Science Symposium aims to bring together clinical and basic science researchers to offer their expertise on the topic of Growth Disorders in Childhood and Adolescence. I encourage all early career members to apply for the ESPE Early Career Scientific Development Grant, which offers up to €2,500 to support the acquisition of knowledge and experience in a specific research area or laboratory technique within paediatric endocrinology. Please be sure to apply by 31 May to avoid disappointment.

I am delighted that ESPE will be taking part in another joint webinar with ESE and Endo-ERN in June. This time, we will focus on Primary Ovarian Insufficiency with expert speakers presenting clinical cases, as well as discussing pathogenesis and presenting an update on management. We are currently seeking applications for a vacancy within our Awards Committee. This three-year appointment will begin in September, and the successful applicant will assess nominations and select winners for ESPE’s six prestigious awards. Finally, I am delighted to announce that our brand-new Leadership Academy will be held in November this year in Cairo, Egypt. This exciting new educational programme is designed to develop the next generation of leaders in paediatric endocrinology – professionals who combine clinical excellence and research innovation with strong communication and leadership skills to drive meaningful change in science, policy, and patient care.
