President update, March 2026

This month, I’m delighted to begin by thanking everyone who submitted an abstract for ESPE 2026. With over 1,200 submissions received, the team is now busy reviewing and scoring them.

Registration for the ESPE Annual Meeting is now open, and I encourage you all to take advantage of the early‑bird fee. As a reminder, ESPE members benefit from reduced registration rates – if you are not yet a member, you can join ESPE via the website to access even greater savings.

The ESPE Bone Academy began last month in Paris, France with 106 participants from 40 countries. We continued this month with the first webinar in this 2‑year educational series focusing on pregnancy and bone disorders, and prenatal diagnosis. If you would like to join us for the whole course, or just a few webinars, you can find more information and the full list of modules on the website.

Applications for the Research Fellowship Grant are closing on 10 April, so please make sure that you submit your application soon. The Research Fellowship enables talented early‑career scientists, investigators and paediatric endocrinologists to conduct research at leading institutions worldwide. This inspiring programme has helped launch successful careers in cutting‑edge clinical research in paediatric endocrinology.

ESPE currently has two surveys running and we would really appreciate your input.

Across the world, approaches to diagnosing and managing paediatric growth hormone deficiency (GHD) vary depending on resources, guidelines, and local traditions, but we still lack a clear global picture. We are inviting professionals from all regions to share their practices in screening, diagnosis, treatment, and transition care. Your input will help identify variations, highlight common challenges, and guide future educational and research efforts. Your experience is essential to build a truly global understanding of real-world practice. Take the survey – the deadline is 10 April.

The second survey assesses the practical approaches used in diagnosing and managing glucocorticoid induced adrenal insufficiency (GI-AI) in children and adolescents worldwide. The primary goal of this survey is to identify existing gaps and variations in clinical practices across different regions and healthcare settings. The findings from this survey will provide valuable data to formulate ESPE recommendations for updated clinical guidelines developed by the ESPE CPC, ensuring better management and outcomes for children and adolescents with glucocorticoid induced adrenal insufficiency. Take the survey – the deadline is 30 April.

We are inviting applications from the ESPE membership to join the ESPE Winter School Steering Committee – a unique opportunity to help shape one of ESPE’s flagship educational programmes. Steering Committee members play a central role in developing the Winter School programme and in selecting the next generation of paediatric endocrinologists through the evaluation of applicants. This is a highly rewarding role for those passionate about education, mentorship and advancing paediatric endocrinology on a global stage. The deadline for applications is 17 April.
