I would like to begin this month’s President’s update by saying thank you to everyone who joined us at the first ever Joint Congress of ESPE and ESE earlier this month. This Congress was a truly landmark event, and brought together nearly 8,000 endocrinologists from across the globe. We not only presented the latest breakthroughs in endocrine science, but also highlighted the vital importance of uniting the paediatric and adult endocrine communities – fostering collaboration, bridging knowledge across age groups, and strengthening our collective impact on patient care.
You can find photos from the event on the Joint Congress website, along with the on-demand content, and how to download your certificate of attendance. Over 3400 abstracts were submitted, and joint abstract prizes were presented to the winners following selection by the Joint Programme Organising Committee. You can also view all of our Joint Award winners – congratulations again to all of this years’ awardees!
Make sure to save the date for the 2026 ESPE Annual Meeting in Marseille, France on 8-10th September next year, where we will be moving beyond boarders and focusing on exchange and collaborative networks in endocrinology.
We have several ESPE events coming up this year, including ESPE Schools and webinars. Our first Moldova School will be held in early June and will focus on networking and continuous medical education in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes for fellows from Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania.
Applications are also currently open for our popular Maghreb School in November. During this School, our international faculty will cover selected topics in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes, and will feature interactive lectures, student case presentations, research project workshops and small-group meetings. The deadline for applications is 31st July.
You still have time to apply for the two Maghreb School Steering Committee Member vacancies. If you are interested in developing the program of the School, evaluating applications, and teaching and mentoring participants, submit your application by 30 June!
The ESPE Clinical Fellowship programme aims to promote the development of patient care, clinical management, and clinical research in paediatric endocrinology through a training programme in a European Clinical centre. Applications are open until 15th July so make sure to submit your application, or find out more about the programme on the website.
We are delighted to be jointly hosting the ESPE-OSCAR Science Symposium this year. The Symposium will be held on 18-19th September and will focus on mineralization of bone and growth plate, towards the development of new therapies. You can find full details on the website, and early bird registration closes on the 15th June.
Our next ESPE Connect webinar will be held on 8th July and our panel of experts will focus on diagnostics. Registration will open soon, so make sure to save the date. In the meantime, don’t forget that ESPE members can catch up on the whole series on-demand and free-of-charge.
All the very best,
Anita Hokken-Koelega
ESPE President
