The year is coming to a close, but there are still several ESPE initiatives to get involved with.
The deadline for ESPE Award nominations is the 10th December, and we need your help to celebrate outstanding achievements in paediatric endocrinology. ESPE offers six prestigious awards honouring excellence across research and clinical practice: Outstanding Clinician Award, Research Award, International Outstanding Clinician Award, International Research Award, and Young Investigator Award.
The Andrea Prader Prize nomination deadline is the 9th January. Presented to a member in recognition of exceptional leadership, a lifetime of achievement in teaching and research, and an outstanding contribution to the field of paediatric endocrinology, this is the most prestigious award ESPE offers.
All of our awards recognise leaders and innovators who make a real difference in our field. If you know someone deserving, submit your nomination today and help us shine a spotlight on their contributions.
The final ESPE Connect webinar of 2025 will be held on the 10th December and will be focussed on neonatal thyroid. Our expert speakers will discuss several aspects, including congenital hypothyroidism and neonatal screening, thyroid hormone physiology in neonates, and interpreting neonatal thyroid functions tests. Register your place for this free webinar and join us next month.
Applications for our popular Caucasus and Central Asia School are still open for a short while – if you want to take advantage of this excellent learning opportunity, make sure to apply before the 10th December. Held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 22-25 April next year, this School will include interactive lectures covering all main topics in paediatric endocrinology, supplemented with group sessions and student case presentations.
We have several vacancies open currently, including YES Group representatives for the Clinical Practise Committee, the ESPE Snippets group, and the Newsletter Editorial Board. Please read the full details of each on the website. These opportunities are a fantastic way to contribute to ESPE and help shape the future of our Society.
I would also like to highlight that the deadline for applications to the ESPE Research Unit grant is fast approaching on the 15th December. This collaborative research grant provides €100,000 over two years and is designed to foster, facilitate, and coordinate high-quality research in paediatric endocrinology, as well as identify key topics for advancement in the field. Full details are available on our website.
The International Fund Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (IFCAH) 2026 call for projects is now open. The deadline for letters of intent is 15 January, and the grant offers up to €150,000 to support innovative research. Full details are available on the website – don’t miss this opportunity to advance knowledge in congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
ESPE currently has several open surveys, and we’d greatly appreciate your input:
We’re inviting healthcare professionals to share their insights on current ways of working, challenges, and training needs in treating paediatric obesity. Your input will guide future education, policy, and initiatives by ESPE and related organisations. Take the survey here.
The ESPE Turner Syndrome Working Group, under the CQIC SDMregistries umbrella, invites you to take part in a short survey on transition care. Share your experiences with current strategies and areas for improvement in transitioning patients to adult care. Participants may also be eligible for co-authorship. Take the survey here.
The YES Group has devised a survey the help us capture how paediatric GHD is managed around the world. With approaches to diagnosing and treating growth hormone deficiency varying globally, your insight can help us understand these differences and improve care for children everywhere. Take the survey here.
Finally, we have opened the call for plenaries for ESPE 2027. If you would like to be part of the 2027 Annual Meeting, submit your plenary proposal today.
All the very best,
Mehul Dattani
ESPE President
