President’s update, August 2026

I hope you have all enjoyed a relaxing and well-deserved summer break and have had the opportunity to spend time with family and friends.

As we return refreshed and ready for the months ahead, it is hard to believe that ESPE 2026 in Marseille is now fast approaching. There is a real sense of excitement building, and I am looking forward to welcoming our community together once again for another exceptional Annual Meeting.

We have two exciting opportunities to join the ESPE team; Education and Training Manager and Research and Clinical Practice Manager. Both roles offer the opportunity to work with leading clinicians and researchers, helping improve outcomes for children and young people with endocrine conditions worldwide. Applications for both close on the 14th September, I encourage you to share these vacancies with your network.

I am delighted to announce we have recently launched our brand-new podcast series; ESPE Voices. Our excellent hosts Indi Banerjee and Maria Estebanez will be speaking to experts from across the global paediatric endocrine community discussing clinical insights, research, and innovations that are shaping our field. In our first episode, I and ESPE’s CEO Kay Miller discuss the Society’s ambitious 2026-2031 strategy, outlining ESPE’s vision for the future, plans to grow and strengthen the ESPE community, and the exciting initiatives that will shape the years ahead.

ESPE’s brand-new Leadership Academy launches later this year and time is running out to apply. Join us this November in Cairo, where the Academy will offer an intensive, high-impact leadership experience for early to mid-career paediatric endocrinologists who are ready to step into visible, influential roles within ESPE and beyond. Applications close on 14th September.

I am delighted to invite you all to our upcoming joint webinar with ESE. Our expert panel will explore the new joint guidance on transition from paediatric to adult endocrine care document and give attendees the opportunity to put their questions directly to leading experts in the field. Register your place to join us on 22nd September.

I would encourage all readers to take part in a global survey from the ESPE YES Group exploring how artificial intelligence is being used in paediatric endocrinology. They are seeking to better understand current applications, clinician perspectives, challenges, and future expectations for AI in clinical practice. Your feedback will play an important role in shaping research priorities, educational initiatives, and the future integration of AI in this field.

Finally, I will end on a reminder to all early-career clinicians and basic scientists to consider applying for the ESPE Early Career Scientific Development Grant. Use the €2,500 grant to learn a new technique, troubleshoot existing methods, or compile statistics. Find out more and apply on the website by 30th September.
