As we see this year come to a close, I would like to take a few moments to look back at 2023 and share some ESPE highlights.
We have hosted five highly successful ESPE Connect webinars on a broad range of topics including management of lipodystrophy, digital health, and most recently, early, genetic and environmental influences on puberty. All of the webinar replays can be found online and are free to view on-demand for all ESPE Members.
The first ESPE Connect webinar of 2024 will be held on 14 February and will focus on congenital hyperinsulinism. Save the date and look out for the registration link in the New Year!
We have produced four insightful and educational editions of ESPE News this year, which have covered a range of subjects from paediatric gynaecology to education and training opportunities. All previous issues can be found to read at your leisure on the website.
Please remember to give us your feedback via the ESPE News survey – your suggestions will help us to shape future issues.
We hosted our excellent Annual Meeting in The Hague, The Netherlands, earlier this year. We hope you found the content educational, interesting and inspiring, but most importantly, I hope you have enjoyed connecting with friends and colleagues from around the world.
Please save the date for next year’s Annual Meeting in Liverpool, UK, on 16-18 November 2024. More details will be coming in the New Year, so please keep an eye on the website, social channels and your inbox.
We also held many face-to-face educational events around the world, including the ESPE Science Symposium in Athens, Greece; the Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism and Summer Schools in The Hague, The Netherlands; and the Maghreb School in Tunisia.
The Yearbook of Paediatric Endocrinology summarises and comments on the major advances in paediatric endocrinology during the previous year. In 14 chapters, the Yearbook provides a valuable resource for advances in basic, translational and clinical research as well as clinical practice published over the last 12 months.
Don’t forget that applications for the Early Career Scientific Development Grant is currently open. Successful applicants will benefit from financial support to gather information and experience on a research issue or laboratory technique. Make sure to apply before the 31 January 2024.
I wish you a wonderful festive season and a happy and healthy 2024.
All the very best,
Anita Hokken-Koelega
ESPE President
