It’s not long to go now until ESPE Connect Online 2020 begins. From 6 November, ESPE will bring you nine days of informative sessions, including multiple symposia on a wide variety of topics, as well several interactive sessions where you will be able to learn from experts in their field. Due to the circumstances this year, registration is free and allows you to access the sessions live or on demand, so do register now if you haven’t already. ESPE Connect Online is taking place thanks to the monumental efforts of our specially created task force, led by Nils Krone and Mehul Dattani. They have been working incredibly hard, alongside Bioscientifica and all those participating in the programme, to bring you high quality online content. Thank you to everyone involved and I look forward to a really valuable few days.
Another excellent source of the latest information is the Yearbook of Paediatric Endocrinology, which summarises and comments on the key advances in the field over the last year. The 2020 Yearbook, edited by Ken Ong and Ze’ev Hochberg, is now available online, also free of charge. I encourage you to make use of this very helpful resource.
Don’t forget that we are also currently welcoming applications for our Early Career Scientific Development Grant (closing tomorrow, 31 October, with funding now available for projects undertaken in the home institution due to travel restrictions).
An important initiative over recent years has been ESPE’s support of Paediatric Endocrine Training Centres for Africa (PETCA). Professor Ieuan Hughes has worked tirelessly on this programme as its coordinator and we’re now transitioning to a new phase where a new ESPE PETCA/PETCWA Coordinator will work jointly alongside a coordinator from ASPAE (African Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology). If you have been involved with PETCA/PETCWA or have experience working in sub-Saharan Africa, we would be very pleased for you to apply for this role by 9 November.
We of course continue to monitor the situation regarding the ongoing pandemic and will be adjusting plans for our schools and other activities accordingly. Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels, as well as our emails, for all the latest information.
Best wishes,
Anita
ESPE Secretary General
