It’s not long now until the ESPE 2022 60th Annual Meeting in Rome and I am looking forward to reconnecting with you all in person. The beautiful “La Nuvola” Convention Centre is a perfect backdrop to the renewed hope and positivity of future in person events.
As a reminder, standard registration will remain open until the end of July, applications received after 00:00 on Monday 01 August 2022 will be charged at the ‘Late & Onsite’ registration rate. Registration will be available online until Saturday 17 September 2022 which is the last day of the meeting.
For those of our colleagues who continue to be affected by the conflict in Ukraine, ESPE continues to offer free ESPE membership for 2022 for Ukrainian paediatric endocrinologists involved in the treatment of children with endocrine disorders, and free online access to the ESPE 2022 Annual Meeting for Ukrainian ESPE members. Humanitarian organisations such as the Red Cross of Ukraine and UNICEF Ukraine remain steadfast in their support and any donations you are able to give is welcomed. Further information on support for professionsals, patients and parents can also be found on the ESPE website here.
ESPE 2022 will highlight an exciting new initiative, the Young ESPE Group (YES Group). Supporting young endocrinologists who are helping shape the future of paediatric endocrinology is an important part of the ESPE mandate. The YES Group has been established to bring together a community of early career ESPE members, creating an additional support network focused on promoting the visibility and involvement of paediatric endocrinologists at the beginning of their careers, within ESPE. The initiative is a dynamic way to introduce mentoring, career advice and to help identify and encourage future leaders in the discipline.
The YES Group is managed by a group of 6 representatives who will sit within ESPE’s main committees to represent early career ESPE members. Please see the groups page on the ESPE website for more information, including the criteria for joining the group, and the sign up form.
We will also have the first official in person meeting of the ESPE Affiliated Societies. Created to connect paediatric professionals across societies, the scheme aims to inprove the care of children and adolescents with endocrine, diabetes and bone disorders. Any European national paediatric endocrine societies and groups can join, and the meeting will be a great platform for collaboration, opportunity sharing and the discussion of key initiatives.
As always, the ESPE website includes many upcoming learning and collaboration opportunities, such as information on the ESPE Science Symposium in October 2022, and applications for the Early Career Scientific Development Grant are also welcome until the 30 September deadline. Please take a look at the dates and deadlines that appear in every News Alert and also on our website. We have a wealth of opportunities for you to benefit from, including training, funding, networking and involvement with the Society and it’s important to us that these are taken up by members across countries and career stages.
Wishing you all the very best,
Anita
ESPE Secretary General
