Earlier this month during ESPE Connect Online, over 5000 professionals from 123 countries came together to access knowledge and best practice and to discuss the latest developments in the field. More than 30 hours of information were made available for registered viewers, all for free due to the exceptional circumstances. I would like to say a huge thank you to Nils Krone, Mehul Dattani and the rest of the Programme Organising Committee and contributors for adapting to the situation and delivering an excellent programme; keeping our knowledge current in this difficult year. Registrants are still able to view the content on-demand until November 2021.
During the event, we enjoyed presentations from our Young Investigator Award 2020 winners and from the 2020 Hormone Research in Paediatrics prize winners. We have also revealed all of our other award winners for 2020 and still hope to present their awards either in person or virtually as appropriate. I’m sure you would like to join me in congratulating our winners for their impressive achievements and contributions.
You can now nominate your colleagues for our 2021 awards, with opportunities to celebrate clinical and scientific achievement from across the world and at different career stages. Please view our website for more information and submit your nominations by 10 December.
ESPE also continues to provide important funding for the advancement of research in the field. We currently have several grants open for applications:
I would also like to highlight that the Bioscientifica Trust COVID response fund, which offers grants of up to €5,000, will remain open for applications until 31 December 2020. The COVID response fund was launched to provide assistance for early career scientists and clinicians for whom a small grant could help ease the negative impact of COVID-19. An ESPE member sits on the Board of the Bioscientifica Trust.
As we and our colleagues across the world continue to deal with the challenges and restrictions of the ongoing pandemic, I wish you all the very best for your health, safety and day-to-day lives. We must continue to support one another and as ESPE we will of course continue to monitor the situation and will adjust plans for our schools and other activities accordingly. Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels, as well as our emails, for all the latest information.
Best wishes,
Anita
ESPE Secretary General
