My thoughts continue to be with you as we all navigate the changing landscape of healthcare. Many of you will have taken on duties in general medicine and intensive care, while all of you will have experienced disruption and changes to the way you are able to deliver your usual clinical care and research. As we continue to live with this pandemic and as restrictions are eased in different countries, it will be important for us to learn from our peers in terms of new guidance and best practice. ESPE is looking at ways in which we can facilitate this sharing of experience and knowledge and we will communicate further with you about this shortly.
ESPE is currently exploring options to provide educational content online later this year to support members. Plans are still being developed by the appointed task force; further information will be made available on our website, and sent directly to ESPE members in due course.
Meanwhile, we continue to proceed with our plans for ESPE Liverpool from Friday 7 – Sunday 9 May 2021 and our committees are busy making arrangements to reschedule all of our other face-to-face activities into 2021. The ESPE Science Symposium focused on CAH has been postponed until 29-30 October 2021, still in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Our website will be updated with all new dates and deadlines as we have them.
I’m very grateful to all committee members and others continuing to show real dedication to delivering ESPE’s activities and resources. There are also members working on projects to translate our patient leaflets, deliver guidelines, review grants, select award winners, deliver e-learning, Yearbook and other online content, create educational newsletters and update the European syllabus in paediatric endocrinology, amongst others. It’s great to be part of such a supportive, collaborative and committed community.
If you would like to join one of our important committees and be more closely involved with ESPE’s activities, we do currently have vacancies to apply for on our Communications, Clinical Practice and Andrea Prader Committees. Please inform us in the next couple of days (deadline: 1 June) if you’d like to be part of one of our teams.
Our latest annual review, covering 2019, clearly shows all that ESPE achieves and the paediatric endocrine professionals that it supports across the world. We hope you enjoy the summary and looking at some of our photos from the year. We’re always keen to hear how ESPE has helped your career and work, so do get in touch with the ESPE Team if you’d like to share any of your success stories.
I send you all my very best wishes for your good health,
Anita
ESPE Secretary General
