We are devastated by the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Morocco. We stand by our colleagues who have been affected and wish them strength, courage and hope in these difficult times. If you are able, please consider donating via UNICEF.

Also the ESPE Science Symposium 2023 will be held this October in Athens, Greece and will focus on obesity in childhood and adolescence. It will also provide the means to disseminate new scientific knowledge in the community of Paediatric Endocrinology.
The deadline for the ESPE Early Career Scientific Development Grants is coming up fast – make sure to get your application in by 30 September to have the opportunity to receive up to €2,500! Paediatric endocrinologists and basic scientists can apply for the grant for the purpose of gathering information and experience on a specific research issue or on a laboratory technique in the field of paediatric endocrinology.
Would you like to volunteer with ESPE? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are interested in working with us on our upcoming programmes for the paediatric endocrinology community. The next ESPE Connect webinar will be held on Thursday 12 October and will focus on transforming education through a global e-Learning model for paediatric diabetes and endocrinology. Our expert panel of speakers will offer viewers a masterclass on the platform, as well as discussing a puberty case from the ESPE e-Learning site. This webinar is free-of-charge for both ESPE members and non-members so make sure to register your place.
The Autumn edition of the ESPE Newsletter is out now! In this issue, we heard from some of the ESPE Annual Meeting plenary speakers, and checked in with those who cycled to The Hague as part of the Ride For Their Lives campaign.
On the topic of publications, the ESPE Yearbook of Paediatric Endocrinology 2023 has been recently published. In 14 chapters, it provides a valuable resource for advances in basic, translational and clinical research as well as clinical practice published over the last 12 months. The Yearbook was introduced by ESPE on the initiative of Professor Ze’ev Hochberg, who sadly passed away earlier this year. To reflect and honour his contributions to science and medicine, we have included a selection of articles that he published over the years, showing the broad spectrum of his research interests that connected many of us. The Yearbook is always a collaborative project among experts in specific fields who devote their time to searching the newest literature for most relevant articles and writing small commentaries.
With best wishes,
Anita Hokken-Koelega
ESPE President
